Standard Construction Guidelines

Base surface preparation: Ensure concrete, panels and window frames are clean, dry and free from dust, oil and standing water. Do not apply the Air Tightness Tape for Windows to damp or frozen surfaces. For highly porous or rough substrates, use a compatible primer where required to improve adhesion.

Corner reinforcement: Reinforce the four corners of the window opening with corner strips. The strip width should be approximately 1–1.5 times the width of the main frame joint to reduce the risk of gaps forming at the corners.

Select the correct tape type: Use the outdoor breathable type for exterior window-opening applications and the indoor vapor barrier type for interior applications. Follow the specified system configuration and do not substitute one type for the other.

Remove the release liner and apply: Align the tape with the joint, gradually remove the release liner and press the tape onto the substrate as you proceed.

Roller or hand compaction: Firmly press the entire tape surface with a pressure roller or suitable hand applicator to ensure full contact with the substrate. Avoid bubbles, wrinkles and edge lifting.

Overlap treatment: Maintain an overlap of at least 100 mm between adjacent tape sections and firmly compact the entire overlap area.
